Join NMA instructor Iliya Mirochnik for a 7-week Live Class focused on animal studies in drawing and painting. Throughout the series, Iliya will show how to construct convincing animal forms from reference and enhance them using value, edges, and rendering techniques. Brief anatomical notes will be provided when relevant, but the primary focus is on a clear, repeatable rendering workflow applicable to animals and beyond.

    Week 4: Long-form dog painting and fur simplification

    Week 6: Primate head painting and surface variation
    Week 7: Final animal portrait from a student-selected subject

Iliya Mirochnik, originally from Odesa, Ukraine, earned his MFA from Russia's esteemed Repin Academic Institute in 2013. His art masterfully blends Russian aesthetics with American nuances. Among numerous accolades, he secured the “First Place” in the American Portrait Society’s competition. With exhibitions spanning from New York to Austria and a significant design for Miami's Icon Bay Residences, Mirochnik has been a dedicated professor at the Ringling College of Art and Design since 2018.
