Join Charles Hu for a six-week Draw Along, Tuesdays at 10 am Pacific Time. In each live session, Charles will demonstrate dynamic sketching techniques using images from the NMA reference catalog, breaking down line, composition, and structure in real time. You're welcome to draw along with any sketching tools you prefer, pencil, charcoal, digital tablet, or whatever inspires you.

This class is open to all active NMA subscribers, regardless of experience. Work alongside fellow artists, share your progress in the digital campus as you explore ways to capture form and movement with confidence.




Meet Your Instructor

  • Charles Hu is a figure painter and notable art instructor. In 2007, he co-founded his own fine art school, 3Kicks Fine Art Studio in Pasadena, California. Charles received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He began his instructional career at the L.A. Academy of Figurative Arts. His commissions include numerous portrait paintings, character designs for film and game pitches, murals, and comic books, one of them being the movie End of the Spear. He has exhibited at Wendt Gallery in Laguna Beach, California. Charles is currently a full-time faculty member at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He has also taught at Laguna College of Art and Design and Gnomon – School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation.
